Wellness: Active & Engaged

At Marywood Health Center, our wellness philosophy focuses on socialization—bringing residents together through meaningful activities that exercise the mind, body and spirit.

We recognize that socialization is important during the rehabilitation process. It helps to defeat loneliness and boredom, and provides a sense of meaning to life. It’s an important quality of life desirable at all ages and stages. Our staff is here to help you get involved in engaged in ways that are comfortable to you and respectful of your preferences.

Activities are geared to energize your body, stimulate your mind to enhance your memory, and to encourage deep thought on spiritual beliefs. We offer great ways to get involved, including pet visits, baking, Wii games and general wellness tips.

The Sisters on campus provide spiritual companionship, and our in-house chapel holds services once a month. We also encourage individual interests and are available to provide a calming presence: prayer, reading, conversation.

Marywood Prairie Habitat … We believe that the land is a gift from God and that we all have a responsibility to care for creation. Ramble through the prairie, rest and meditate on the benches placed around the circumference, and take in God’s creation.

Sculpture Garden & Path … Seek respite by exploring the Instruments of Hope St. Francis Sculpture Garden for Prayer and Meditation. The accessible pathway and sculpture garden meanders through wooded areas and gardens. Created in St. Francis of Assisi’s name, patron saint of animals and ecology, the garden and trail features a series of bronze statues of the beloved saint. Thank you to Instruments of Hope and artist Mic Carlson for this beautiful sacred space.

Dominican Center’s contemplative learning programs promote spiritual growth, relationship building, healing, prayerful reflection, and enriching learning opportunities. See what programs are offered during your stay.
